Bocce Ball Information:

Call 636-441-0994 or come by 5286 Hwy N and sign up your team for future bocce ball leagues.

Teams consist of 4 people - with 1 Captain representing team
(Alternates can be on team - but MUST be present at beginning of play)

6 games a team per night for 10 weeks of play
Team Rosters Must be Signed By ALL Players and Paid In Full Prior to Start of Play

Games consist of first team to reach 11 points or 30 minute time limit
The sport is played with one small ball (Pallino) and eight larger balls

[Bocce (singular), Bocci (plural)] —  four for each team.

The Pallino is thrown first and becomes the target. Then each Bocce is thrown with

the goal of placing it as close to the Pallino as possible.

A full game of Bocce is called a Round, and it is separated into a series

of scoring periods called Giri (plural) or Giro (singular).

The team that reaches eleven points first wins the Round.
In each Giro (scoring period), only one team may score points. A point
is scored for the team

with its Bocce closest to the Pallino, and additional points are earned for each Bocce of the

same team that is closer to the Pallino than the closest Bocce of the opposing team.

Hence, if all four Bocci of one team are closer to the Pallino than any Bocce of the

opposing team, four points will be scored for the winning team and none for the opposing team.

It's a WASH if two opponents balls are of equal distance to the pallino.
The last person who threw the ball, their team mate follows at the start of the next
scoring period (aka Giri)

If a throw is illegal, (i.e., hits backboards and bounces into play) and ball hits the Pallino then all Bocci are returned to their previous positions, and the illegal Bocce is removed from play.

For teams that have only 3 players - MUST rotate ends and each player cannot play more than

2 consecutive games (1 player always rotates off).

If only 2 players are available, those 2 players can play 3 games but must forfeit 3 games.
